We partner with you to create custom training programs embedded in context and culture

Many education organizations look to implement train the trainer approaches because the benefits are significant:

  • Scalability:  you are looking to provide training because you believe a particular practice or set of knowledge will lead to better student outcomes.  This generally means that you would like to expose as many educators to your training as possible, but the capacity of your training team is finite.  Train the trainer solves this.
  • Equity:  we all know that to truly achieve equity in education, we must serve the needs of the local community and economy.  The local educators are those who understand this best.  If they can combine this knowledge, with any other best practices shared, the potential impact is exponential.  Train the trainer makes this possible.

Typical Challenges in Implementing Train the Trainer Approaches

  1. Encouraging Leadership:  Educators often do not feel like they are an "expert" in a particular topic after going through a workshop, and are reluctant to step into a leadership role training their peers as a result.  We want our teacher leaders to take pride practicing their craft exceptionally well, but this very quality can sometimes make the roll out of a train the trainer model challenging.
  2. Quality:   It is important to make sure that training does not fall victim to a game of "telephone," where the quality and clarity of the message gets lost each time it is passed on.  When you train, trainers to then deliver your message, however, this can be a real risk.
  3. Content:  The knowledge you typically want to share is frequently inside the head of some of your master teachers, who are already spending so much time on coaching, in addition to teaching, that they are stretched thin and struggle to support train the trainer efforts.

The Role Technology Can Play in Making Train the Trainer Successful

We capture the knowledge of experts as digital content, and design this to provide first instruction.  This makes it easier for educators to step into leadership roles providing training because their focus can be on the application of concepts based on their experiences; it ensures quality by clearly documenting the concepts to be shared, and it makes it possible for your internal experts to work with more people.
